Dear Ones:
My friend, Dr. Craig, once told me that when I respected something within myself or my life with all good intention and honesty, others would respect it too.  How right he was.  Yoga, on Wednesday afternoons with my teacher, Everett, is very important to me.  When I first took this new job with AustinFreeNet it seemed like lots of Wednesday there would be a meeting that interfered with my yoga class and I am ashamed to say that the meetings always won.
But I have decided that yoga is VERY IMPORTANT to my health and well being.  So, I went on our company calendar and I blocked out Wednesday from Noon until about 2:30 with a note which read: Rabbi Raine, Yoga class from 1-2 pm.  Please do not schedule meetings that will interfere with my attendance at Yoga.  I did so with the blessings of my boss, Dale, who has known me for about two years now and knows that Wed. afternoons are Yoga afternoons.
The other day I overheard two colleagues talking about a meeting we needed to schedule.  One said to the other, “no, we can’t have it then because Rabbi needs to be there and Wed. is her Yoga afternoon!”  I was delighted.  I had made the decision to respect my need for Yoga and it’s health benefits.  Now others were respecting it as well.
I know now what I didn’t know then…respect for me, for my values, for my needs and for my health START with me!  What a wonderful thing to know.
L’Chayim!  To your Health!
With many blessings and very great love for all of us,
Rebba Raine
